Ripoff phone scam promised $500 shopping spree for using their messenger service

In early Nov. 2005 I received a call from a sales rep asking if I would be interested in a phone messenger service. My first responce was NO, I would never use it. Then the caller asked if I could use a $500 shopping spree. All I had to do was pay 19.95 to install it and 19.95 for the first month service, after that I could cancel at anytime and the shopping spree would still be mine. I thought what the heck and agreed to try it for one month. I was told I would receive a start up package in the mail telling me how to use the service and how to get the shopping spree from a web site which only required shipping charges for the items I ordered. I was also told I would receive the info in 10-14 days.

After paying the installation charge and first month service charge which was on my verizon phone bill in Dec. 2005 and not yet receiving the info. I called them. They said it had been sent but they would send out another info pack. I watched my mail. I waited another couple weeks and called them again, this time they told me it had been sent out twice maybe I should check with my mailer carrier as to why they were holding it. I've never had problems getting my mail before so I knew that wasn't the reason.

I get my phone bill for Jan. 2006 with the charge for 19.95 for the second month's service. I pay the charge with my phone bill once more having not received any info yet.

I call them again for the third time in mid Jan. 2006.
This time I told them I had enough too cancel the service and that I had paid them 59.85 so far for a service I never used and had planned to cancel after the first month. They agreed to cancel it and still send me the info pack so I could have the $500 shopping spree. The very same day I get the phone bill for Feb. to my surprise Members Edge did not appear on the bill. All those calls I made must have made them believe I was on to their scam.

What a fool I was to fall for this. I've always been so careful about these things.
