Ripoff

I too, fell for this scam. I received a call late at night (after 10pm CT) on my cell phone, no less, offering this great deal. It sounded similar to another credit card offer that I have had NO troubles with so I was willing to give the information.in my case, the oriental sounding woman already had the bank info and wanted verification.

I called the next morning to cancel stating that I was getting a divorce and would no longer be on the account. I told them I would call back when I had opened a new account. They charged the 1st account anyway. I'm not getting divorced anymore but I wasn't on the account at the time of the transaction.

The only way (I can think of) that she could have gotten it before I gave it to her is from an internet payday loan I took out some weeks back. It's the only time I gave out my cell number for contact purposes. Could the 2 companies be related?

And, how easy is it to "purchase" this type of personal information? I thought it was illegal.
