Ripoff... I cancelled but there were still charges on my credit card

Miscellaneous

When they called I was told there would be a $1 charge for activating the account that day. I was also told that there would be a 7 day trial period during which I could cancel my account.

I was told that if I did not cancel my montly subcription total would be around $25.

I called 2 days later to cancel and was told that I had to send it in writing, so I did. I sent it that day so there would be plenty of time for the letter to get there before the trial period ended.

When I looked at my bank statement for that month I noticed an $81 charge from CRC Magazine. I called to talk to them and they said they did not get the canellation letter before the end of the trial period.

They told me they could "comprimise" with me and only charge me $81 for 3 months. I told them that was ridiculous and that I needed my money back.

They told me they had to charge me for 3 months and there was nothing else that could be done. So, I told them that there was. I could cancel the credit card they had on file so they couldn't charge me again.

When I hung up the phone I cancelled the credit card.
