RDK & Associates
Ripoff, scam, commission, sales

Miscellaneous

I thought that RDK & Associates, was going to be this great new company, which offered marketing and advertising for real clients, and I would be able to implement ideas and use my degree that I worked hard for. I submitted my resume and within hours someone replied, I was shocked since it was fast, but excited that this would be an opportunity of a lifetime. I eagerly scheduled my appointment to meet with the President of the company!!! I was sooo excited and nervous, to meet with the President. When I went in I realized the office was kind of small and I didn't hear much commotion going on, like the other marketing companies I interned for. But none-the-less I stayed. After 30 minutes of waiting and staring at the walls and cheesey receptionist, it was finally my turn.

The interview was very brief and none of my answers were really answered, I asked about benefits, what the starting salary of the average Account Executive was, and who all of their clients were. The only named one client they currently worked for, and kept saying there was a competitive performance based pay structure, which meant straight commission, no benefits. I was disappointed, I never heard of this kind of marketing. So I asked how this company got to be successful, and where all the other employees were? He said they were out visiting their clients and making presentations, and they became successful from their training program.

I was invited for a second round interview and told to expect to spend a full day with one of the reps, and I thought well maybe it's not soo bad, they meet with some awesome clients and make a huge commission or something. Not at all!!! I wanted to shoot myself all day long, it was torture. Everyone is 26 or younger, you don't need a degree to realize this was a door-to-door sales scam. They travel as far as Ft. Myers to knock on doors, and ask them about their retention rate and turn over, I bet you it's at 95%, because the way some of those people dressed and the cars the drove, you could tell they weren't making any money at all. There's no paid training, no company car, no amazing clients, no pride in what they do. They are solicitors, they're the people you dread when you look through your peep hole or answer the phone.

I hope that this entry will spare someone their time, and not go. I researched some more and found out their parent company is Cydcor, and they're everywhere, so watch out. If it's too good to be true... It's RDK & Associates fooling another naive job seeker.
