Door to Door Solicitation RIPOFF Indianapolis

I went for an interview at Alpha Development Concepts in Carmel (which also goes by Diversified Corporate Solutions as I was contacted off of my posted resume by the same receptionist under a different company name), and they told me they were looking for energetic recent Marketing graduates to work face to face with their clients. Little did I know that they consider every person to be their client, and when they say face to face all that they mean is that they just walk into businesses all day long and try to sell them something.

I had a preliminary interview and thought everything was fine. It seemed legitimate, I was there with people from my University and other respected Indiana colleges. I recieved a call back for a second interview which was an entire day, 8-5, of walking into 40 different businesses with one of their "top marketing reps". We had to drive an hour each way to Columbus, IN and harass people going door to door. I was told to prey only on the small businesses as Alpha Development's contract with SBC/Yahoo! Was only for small business contracts.

Everytime a store owner told her they were busy, or that he had just walked in without asking or setting up an appointment, he would keep pushing and insisting that he got the sale. He botched the paperwork repeatedly and was unprofessional. He also told me repeatedly 'at least he wasnt a telemarketer because then they could just hang up; this way they have to listen to me'. I had to learn the four tactics of sales and basically take a quiz at the end of the interview.

I went to college so I wouldn't have to do this kind of thing, and they prey on graduates with a facade that tries to convince you that it's a legitimate company. It may be legitimate, but it's not a place where someone with a conscience would want to work.
