Signature Marketing Concepts, Inc, DC Advertising, Innovage WASTE OF A DAY... Waste of my hard earned money! Deceitful!

I wouldn't normally do this, but I feel it's important! I had an interview yesterday with Signature Marketing Concepts, Inc. Which I was pretty excited about. The job post said it was a "Fashion Marketing job, $30,000-35,000 a year, no cubicle work or telemarketing, for entry level job seekers, a way to get your foot in the door!" So I thought, great, just what I need... Little did I know! The interview went well and the woman told me she'll call later that night if I was chosen for a second interview. Well I guess, everyone is chosen!

I came across this website as I was trying to research the company the night before, and get some background info for my second interview... Well call me crazy but I didn't believe this... Or maybe didn't want to believe this! But I will say... I have had a hellish day! I went to the second interview and three other people were there as well... Two of the other girls and I started talking and I realized we all had similar suspicions of the company... And they proved to be right! One girl was even there from Virginia! I just feel horrible that she drove all the way here for that! We were taken separately into an office then led downstairs and out the door, to get into a strangers car and drive 45 minutes alone with this person to find out& we are walking around "door to door" or as they like to say "we sell business to business". We walked into a bank and then a doctor's office to sell eye shadow!!! I finally said, thank you but no thank this is not for me. I had to call a cab and get a ride back to the office to pick up my car! $70 later... And I'm pissed! It is not the job itelf or the people, I want everyone to know that!

The girl I interviewed with and walked around today were very nice people& it is the false advertising of the job. It's great if someone wants to do that, be my guest, but I am sorry I did not spend 4 years at a good college getting a degree to walk around some sh*tty neighborhood selling eyeshadow! It's a shady job, and thank god I did not spend the whole day doing that&I don't even care about the money! I just wanted to say though that to anyone considering an interview or worse a second interview, just know what you're getting into&because they don't tell you! In fact they don't tell you much of anything until you experience first hand! It is commission only, you walk around and sell some stupid thing door to door, then once you're there 3 months you're suddenly called a manager and then you walk around with someone else to "train" them. It's horrible and frankly it's a lie! I'm surprised there hasn't been more lawsuits with this... Driving with the person without being told is a liability in itself! Sorry for the rant but this needs to stop! It is unfair and against the law to falsely advertise!
