Uses "bait and switch" method, deceptive, customer service gives you the run around

I purchased a ring from this website, when the ring was shipped, it was a horrible cheap knockoff of the ring. I was naive and tried calling to see if a mistake had been made. The customer service manager told me that the original one pictured on the website was no longer available, this was a replacement sent from the manufacturer. He then tried to talk me into keeping this one.

I assured him this looked nothing like the one on the website and wanted to return it without paying the $95 restocking fee. He said that was ok and I could return it. I paid another $20 to ship it back to them, they did credit my card for the ring but charged me $95 to restock the item.

After trying for several months to speak with the manager, I finally reached him. He was patronizing to speak with and I believe he is quite sly with his tactics. Never once loosing his cool, but running me around like crazy.

He told me that nobody would've told me that they'd waive the $95 restocking fee. He also said that 100% backordered items are called ahead to make sure they can ship a replacement. He added "which I'm sure is the case here", my reply was quite prompt and an affirmative "no it isn't".

His pathetic solve for the matter was "I can open an investigation, I'm not promising you anything, because it is very difficult, we have to look through thousands of orders to find yours and I'm sure we'll find that you consented to the ring exchange".

I am infuriated that I will lose $135 to a company that after my conversations with the manager, believes that they are running a blatently dishonest business.

I found several reviews of this website to find only the same thing. I was horrified that others have been taken this way and we have very little recourse.

If anybody has any advice on what I can do to stop this kind of thing, please let me know.
