Springs Of Country Woods Apartments
Evict tenants without due process

Miscellaneous

I was warned not to rent from Springs of Country Woods but I did anyway. Should have listened to the guy that told me not to.

I moved in just after the terrorist attacks on the WTC. I am also in the Army Reserves and because of the attacks I volunteered to go on active duty.

Anyone who has been in the military knows that the bureaucracy that is the military makes things move at a glacial pace.including cutting orders for active duty. Thus the problem.

All those who volunteerd were having pay problems. Something that has never been a problem in the past. Anyway, the knuckleheads that own this particular property were notified in writing that I was having problems with pay and would pay them as soon as funding was available.

As soon as funding was availiable I went to my bank and purchased a money order for the entire amout due. I took it to the office and left for work.

Upon my return that evening the rent check was on the fireplace mantle along with an eviction notice. I lived alone and it turns out the maintenance guy just let himself in. State law states that you have to be told in writing in advance that your apartment is going to have someone enter. Unless, of course, it is an emergency. This is routinely ignored.

Anywho, asking around the complex, other tenants have had problems with the property owners and as soon as their lease was up they were moving.

Now my credit is shot and they claim I owe them over $3500.00. When I ask for an itemized receipt explaining the charges I am ignored.

I put myself into this mess but I was letting management know what was going on and the whole time there was no indication that they were trying to kick me out. Guess I should have paid more attention.

Bottom line; these people are as impersonable as they get. Other managers have walked off because of the difficulty of working with the owners. Getting evictions, assessing large unreasonable fees and dinging credit seems to be the way these folks operate.

So if you are reading this and deciding on whether or not to rent from Springs of Country Woods, my advice is don't. But that is up to you. Just don't be surprised when (not if) the owners try to screw you.
