I just got scammed. I received a call from David Smith @ 978-228-7754. He had a very thick accent but he said that I was approved for $5,000. I told him that I only needed $2500, and he said no problem. He advised me to purchase a Vanilla Reload Card and load $240.00 for verification that I could pay back the loan. I purchased the card and called him back with the number so that he could verify the funds and he said that I could retain my funds of $240 back in 45 minutes. David calls me back in 45 minutes and tells me that I can get the money but I have to purchase protection insurance in the amount of $440.00 to receive my funds. I advised him that I was not interested and thanked him for his services. I then went to use the card and found that my money was gone. I called David Smith back and requested my money back and he then said that I would have to pay a cancellation fee of $189.00 to get my $240.00 back. I never signed anything or received a e-mail but he still said that I would not get my funds back. I advised David Smith which is probably not his real name that I would be contacting the police and he told me not to threaten him and hung up.
