Miscellaneous

I ordered product samples for which my credit card was to be billed for the amount of shipping (the statement I received by e-mail also clearly identified an equivalent amount of $13.00 for two products that were to be billed to my credit card). What I did not receive was a statement or notification that I had been automatically signed up for an autoship program. Subsequent charges were applied to my credit card totalling $208. Upon contacting my credit card vendor and these companies, it was identified that somewhere on a second page to the order form for samples, it is identified that I would have to cancel within 14 days in order to avoid incurring any additional charges, thus making this practise 'legal'. Hmm, I usually read quite well and am careful to review, so I've got to ask how buried was this 14 day cancellation clause and why was no statement in this regard sent to notify me? For a total of approximately $221 CDN, I got two containers of questionable product. These companies and these types of policies need to be shut down.
