Miscellaneous

A young man named Tyler came to my door with a story about needing help to win a contest to get him a trip of a lifetime to Italy. He was selling magazine subscriptions and needed "points" to win - the contest was closing in a couple of hours. He was extremely persistent. I agreed to look at the catalogue and picked out 4 magazines that I would like. He told me that would be $400.00 cash to which I responded that I would not pay that much money. He said to look again at my choices and he could see what could be done. I narrowed it down to 3 and it was $182.00. I felt it was alot of money, but his "sob-story" of really needing this trip (it was pretty good), I decided I would go ahead and give him the money. I insisted on a phone number and called it right away - a young man answered with "Prolific Marketing". So I thought it was legit. The phone number does not work any longer and I have never received any magazines. I should have known better, but I felt I was helping this guy out. I have tried the web-site for this company and there are no links that allow me to contact them. I didn't even want to report this as I felt stupid for being taken advantage of, but if it helps one more person not to be scammed, then I will feel better about it.
