We built a new house in 1998. We put an EMCO? Anderson storm door on our lower level entry. 4 years later we contacted them to let them know the door had been swelingl at the bottom and the skin was popping out... We had to take the door to Des Moines but we did get a replacement. 4 years later we had the same problem. This time we were told to take it to a Home Deopt, which we did (both Des Moines is 2 1/2 hours away and Home Depot is 11/2 hours away) they exchanged the door. Now here it is 5 years later and we have lived with the same problem for almost 2 years. We have sent pictures as they requested... Today we received a phone call saying... How can we help you replace your door. So we called! We were told they changed their warranty policy this past late May... How convenient! NO more replacement doors... Their door is defective in design and they will not replace it! What's wrong with this picture. We were told we could upgrade at a cost of approx. $47.00 to them and pay the different of our original door at a Home Depot. Now, if we really want another door like the one we have. We could remove the door frame, door and hinges... Take it to a Home Depot. They would take out the screen, window, handle, hinges and remove the frame... Give us a 'core' door and we could take it home, re-assemble it and re hang it... Please we are in our 70's. Is there any recourse here for us... This is the 4th door since building new in 1998!
