Miscellaneous

I attended Lamar State College to bridge from LVN to RN to upgrade my opportunities at work. I completed the course; however at the end they required you to take an exit exam. Two tests were involved and a percentage of each had to equal 75%. I missed the score by 2% and they were very fair the well about the whole thing. I had to contact them about what to do because I have been out at least $7,000.00 on this program and they were like goodbye, farewell. Finally I got hold of someone that would talk with me and offered me to take the tests over. Before it became time to take the tests I received an e-mail stating the grade was being increased to 78% and the percentage of each was changed making it even harder to pass. I made 75%, so by the previous grading scale I would have passed the exit exams. I have protested this grading change which I will send you a copy. I feel like I have been treated unfairly. So actually I have an associate degree in nursing I can’t use and I have lost $7,000.00. I feel like I have been duped by this school. All they will say is”we can change the grading system at any time”. When I signed a contract it stated 75% was needed to pass.

Thanks for listening,

Lavonia Messick
