Education & Science

Same thing has just happened to me!!! They pursued me to the point of harrassment via phone and mail. Finally I took the bait, i was told all I had to do was take 7 tests, and then I would be able to sit for the state boards in my state. They went on to say that they would provide all my materials - which included my study guides—7& was all I needed. She faxed over the paperwork that night, I told her I needed some time to look it over and I would give them a call. She called 3 days later wanting to know what more did I need to know in order to sign the paperwork, she again informed me that all I needed to do was take 7 tests and I would be able to sit for my state boards and it would be cheaper than going to a traditional institute. She never mentioned to me about having to enroll at Excelsior College after I took the tests to do my clinicals and that would be more money.

Needless to say, after signing the paper work, I received the "Brochure" explaining that I had to enroll in Excelsior for the clinical portion of the exam and it would cost me more money!!! I was also told that they would be financing my study guides, which I will receive, 1 at a time, and as I completed a test and passed they would send out the next study guide. I was sent all 7 study guides, plus a NCLEX-RN review guide plus a letter from County Credit Union out of Florida thanking me for "obtaining" a loan throu TCN to continue my education. When I tried to cancel, I was told that I couldn't even if I sent back the unused unopened study guides. They are taking $83 out of my checking account. I have talked to a different person everytime I have called and even the Vp and was simply told that there was nothing they could do about it. The last time I checked this was america and I had a right to change my mind. They are making me take a loan that I do not want or need for some study guides that I have not used or even need.

I continue to get mail and I just had UPS to try to deliver a packet that was from TCN - which were more studyguides, eventhough I have called, and e-mailed expressing my desire to not want any more corespondence and that I am not interested in their program. Nurses beware, they are only offering study guides that they say can guarantee that you will pass your exams to become an RN. They are not an Educational institute, they are not associated with any school, and the study guides they are offering are just books that any College or University you attend, will have available for you to purchase. They are a publishing company and they are ripping people off!!
