I received an email asking me to pay USD 550 for a parcel on hold in Malaysia. See copy of email below:

Thank you for using WORLD LINK CARGO SERVICES We are mailing you about the delivery of your package No 00676TH, We wish to inform you that your package has been placed on hold by the Malaysian custom authority for some reasons which has violated the shipping policies. As your package was SCANNED at the custom clearance point here in Malaysia they detected that currency was inside your parcel, for further destination to the given address in (&) At the check point.

The Malaysian custom detected that you need to pay a Regional TAX that covers both your Country which will help us deliver your package without any problem from any port of entry. Failure to pay soon will be charged to court for violation of rules of custom policy here and in your country. Therefore, to avoid the charge of court, Clearance fees must be paid to the customs duty through which is for the immediate clearance of your package and we have told the sender that before the shipment that the receiver will need to pay some charges before the delivery which is the clearance fee.

For the main time, reference on your status of your package during tracking will be placed on HOLD because you need pay the Clearance and Administrative Fees. This is in accordance to the mode of operations in the Courier sector. We have already taken shipping details for this package from the courier service. You are required to follow all instructions giving to you in other to release your package.
