Advertised free Australian Who's Who listing on LinkedIn. As a former lister in the genuine Who's Who, I though why not?

Subsequently, I received a telephone call from a lady with an American accent, gathering data and then hitting me with a heavy sales pitch. After some haggling, I agreed to sign up for some kind of premium listing for 12 months for USD189. I declined offer of web page and foolishly furnished my credit card number - big mistake!!!

Turns out it is not really Who's Who. Is a business called Stanford Who's Who, not related to Stanford U or any genuine Who's Who organisation.

It is just a variation of the old business listing scam. Listing is crap and really primitive.

To top it off, the charge to my card was circa $212 and within a month a $9.95 monthly charge for a web page appeared on my credit card. Not only unauthorised, but specifically declined!

The only way you can stop the charges is to cancel your credit card.

Beware of this very nasty scam!!!
