Ok here goes... On Feb. 15 my husband was called on his phone asking to speak with me about an important matter. I give them a call back and speak with Amber Austin who also seems to be Mary Anderson. She goes on and tells me that i owed $700 on a payday loan in 2005 and that if i did not pay i would be served and they will press criminal charges against me. She had my personal info and i freaked out and thinking i owed this creditor by the name of Ace Cash express, i made a settlement with her.
On 02/15 i paid $250 and on 3/15 i paid $150. But i just stayed with a funny feeling inside me so i decided to investigate this company. First there are reports against this company on the
BBB, there are scam reports on all of their known numbers. I called them back and requested a letter of validation which BY
LAW we are entitled to, as proof that i owed
that company. She said i needed to pay $850 and that i needed to hire an attorney to get it. After trying several times to get this, I decided to call the creditor Ace Cash express, the collections dept, customer svc dept, and their corporate office confirmed to me that i owed the nothing. I since have filed a complaint with the federal trade commission, i am working with my bank to try and recover my funds plus i changed my debit card info. The bank also advised that i file a police report against them, which i am. Please beware of these scammers!!!
