I almost just sent this guy/woman money! I put a add on craigslist for a 3bdrm duplex or house in the town I live in WI. He has been emailing me all week showing me pictures etc. When I asked him to see the property he gave me address and I drove past. It was too my liking. He claimed that he was disabled and his wife died so his son made him move to MS. He said he son didn't get everything he needed to show the place, but that he would overnight me the key and rental contract if I sent him some money.
I asked my fiance what he thought. We both agreed that we would have to see it first. Then I went back through all the emails and noticed things didn't seem right. I put the address he gave me for the property in google browser and it came up as being owned by a well known rental company around here. I copy/pasted his email in the google browser and it brought me here! I am so glad that I did this! I even went and told my kids that I thought I found us a place. We have been saving for so long for a bigger/nicer home and my family would have been devastated if I would have lost our savings to a con artist. I can't believe that people exist to rip off families that need a home. What a piece of immoral garbage. I am grateful that this website exists so that I didn't make a very stupid decision and lose a ton of money to this man. Thank you. I will be very weary of scam artists on craigslist from now on.
