I have a leased credit card machine through MBF leasing co. It has been a few years that we have had this machine. A traveling salesman came in and told us how much money we would save with this credit card terminal compared with our current terminal. We signed the lease on good faith. THe machine stopped working in May. We contacted the company so they could send us a new one, but they failed to respond to our calls. Our company uses credit cards for the majority of our transactions, so with out a credit card terminal it would cost us several thousand dollars a day not to have one. When we repeatedly called them they said that they were just a leasing company and do not handle that aspect of the machine. We called merchant credit card company the company that handles the transactions and they said they were not responsible for the machine. We were stuck with a broken machine, paying $169.99 a month. We could not be without a machine so we went ahead and purchased a machine from another company for less than $300.00 outright. We told MFB leasing they could have their machine as it did not work, and why should we have to pay for a lease on a machine that they would not repair or send a new one. 2 weeks later we recieved a machine in the mail from MFB leasing. It was too late, we already purchased a new one. It was then that we realized what a fradulent company they were. A lease should honor the equipment being leased and send out a new one the next day, not 2 weeks later. Why else lease a piece of equipment?
I have been harrassed ever since with telephone calls to my office, cell and home.
I have been sent a letter from their attorney requesting the full payment of the lease plus attorneys fees for the total of $5,372.62.
