Miscellaneous

This rental website is a scam and a joke. I have not received a single LEGITIMATE inquiry for over a year, not an email, not a phone call, not a tweet, not even a hand written letter. I patiently waited for the full year to come around (on 10/4) in hopes that I get over $999 worth of rentals from my listing with UIU, but I didn't and when I made a full refund request (per the terms of the money-back agreement) I was given a bunch of silly (hidden) terms that nobody in their right mind could (or should) have to deal with.

I have seen lots of email traffic (and rentals) on another rental listing website that I am a member of and they don’t have much good to say about UIU either, in fact, most of it is very critical of UIUs practices (deceptive phone calls, pushy, often belligerent sales tactics, refusal of legitimate refunds, etc). Some of the blog traffic indicated the prices varied wildly (one person said they paid $359 for a five-year listing... I paid $999 AND that was with a last minute “managers discount” of $300). That kind of info, coupled with the fact that I have not received a single inquiry in more than a year leaves me more than critical of UIU.

I have to admit, thinking back to last November when I first received a call from the UIU salesperson she did make it sound like SHE wanted to rent my property. Then it quickly turned into a sales call and I did feel alot of pressure and some comments were made to me that sounded something like “are you STUPID or something"? ” (by me not immediately signing up for UIU). And whenever I said “this sounds too good to be true” or “let me look into it for a few days” I was battered with threats that the price would go up (a lot) if I didn’t take the offer on the spot (or the softer approach by someone else I talked to that said “what do you have to lose? There is a 100% money-back guarantee! ”... So I can somewhat see what these other people are talking about.

I am typically not one to accuse someone of being unethical or of using deceptive business practices until a promise has been broken with me personally, but that was done when I requested my refund and provided full documentation. They refused my request based on information from another website!

Then there was the UIU discount card they sent me as part of my membership... What another joke! The card hasn’t been recognized by a single restaurant or service since I received it over a year ago. TGI Fridays? Never heard of UIU. Tony Romas... NOPE! Dennys? Uh uh. NOBODY has heard of United in Uniform and we have a HUGE Air Force Base in our town! WHAT A JOKE.

Well, to end this story (for now) I do not receive a refund (at all) and UIU hid behind their ridiculous Money Back Guarantee Terms and Conditions (read them... What a JOKE!). I will be contacting every organization I can think of to expose these crooks, including the local TV fraud and abuse hotlines, the Utah and Florida State Attorneys General Offices, The Federal Attorneys General Offices, The Better Business Bureau (I am not expecting much help from them but what the heck), The Orlando Chamber of Commerce, and every other institution I can think of. And websites like this. WARNING! Stay away from united in uniform! They are deceptive CROOKS!
