Do not work for this company

Miscellaneous

I saw the ad on Craigslist that CCTV Services was looking for salespeople. I've been in sales for 18 years selling high line luxury cars but was looking for a career change so I set up the interview.

I met with Anthony... Very nice person. Spoke to him for around 20 minutes and he then had Paul come in and interview me as well. I was hired on the spot and started a few days later.

I made an average of of 150-200 cold calls per day.in my first week, I had set up 3 appointments - not bad for someone in their first week. I started thinking this might actually be a nice place to work. Salary, commissions on the appointments, very nice atmosphere. Was I wrong...

I had barely been there for 2 weeks when Anthony called me in the conference room to tell me that I was doing a great job so far. He told me that I sounded great on the phone and had a "radio voice" and to keep up the good work. However...

He then starts to tell me that me that I need to have "more luck" with making the appointments and that "they" are looking for more productivity. Just imagine you go to work for a company, you're doing everything right but your job is now in jeopardy after only 2 weeks because your not having enough "luck".

It was at that point that I realized that this was not the kind of company that I wanted to work for. I came in the next day at 9 am, made a few cold calls and at around 10:30 walked over to Anthony and told him that the job was not for me.

He gave me my check and I left. However, I have found out since I left that they will not pay you ANYTHING on your commissions if you leave. I figure I got stiffed for at least $500. Someone who used to work for CCTV Services told me that's how they stay in business. Keep in mind that the turnover rate is very high so if they do this to enough people, that adds up to quite a lot of money.

I have to say that Anthony and Paul were actually very nice. It's the owners who are the problem at CCTV Services and dictate the policy there.in addition, the owners' daughter, Hope, was one of these people who would come in for maybe 3-4 hours and then leave for the day. I asked someone who had been working there for a while what Hope actually did to contribute to the business and the answer I got was " I still have no idea".

Maybe instead of stiffing their former employees on the commissions that they rightfully worked hard for and deserve, the owners should fire their lazy daughter Hope and have her get a real job, so then all of that money they are paying her to do absolutely nothing could be used to actually compensate the employees who do something to contribute to the profitability of the company.
