Terrible Management!

I work at Family Dollar in Philadelphia and it is by FAR the WORST job I have ever had! I'm grateful for being able to find some type of work in this economy but it is not worth the headache. Management runs such a tight ship with payroll, with the amount allowed there is only enough payroll to have two people working at a time no matter how much is to be done. You cannot take a break because with only two people there are always customers. You're basically checking out customers and then attempting to open boxes, stock, stack and recover inventory in 3 minute intervals since that's how far you get before a customer is ready and you have to jog back up to the register. Even if God does decide to bless you with a few minutes of downtime, it's not a good idea to leave someone by themselves to take a break... This store is in a very dangerous spot! Speaking of the word BREAK, there is no break room. No small fridge, no microwave, not even a place to put the bottle of water you're not allowed to have at the register you never leave while working in the summer with no real air conditioning. No employee discounts, no nothing. The next you want to complain about about how you're being treated, why the store is dirty or why the shelves are never stocked, remember this employee complaint and remind yourself that this is why they are so damn cheap.
