Beware.

Legit sites like E-Lance.com are being attacked by a bunch of scammers who say they work for either SHT Computer, SHTComputers or Amax Engineering.

I went through the process and they sent me a check in the mail for $1,890 to buy equipment for my "mini office". I knew right away something was off. The name of the business on the check was totally different than the name of the company trying to hire me.

I called the name on the check, Amax Engineering, and they know ALL about the scam and apologized more than once. They told me to contact my local authorities which I did. A Detective came to my house to collect the check, all of the e-mails, etc. I also called E-Lance to report it and they are, hopefully, on top of it as well.

They will interview you on Yahoo Messenger and the "ladies" name is Mrs. Patricia McKenzie. Her e-mail address is mckenziep477@yahoo.com.

Be very careful. They will TELL you to deposit the check immediately and to buy the equipment through their vendor. What happens is, the vendor (probably them) gets the real money, the check bounces a day or two later and comes up as a fraudulent check and you will be on tap for a couple thousand dollars to the bank in fraud money and fees. Disgusting act by these people.

If you have ANY doubts about a business, please do all the necessary research, call the BBB if it's here in the US and PLEASE use common sense.
