Aol - America Online
Won't let you cancel your free trial! Nationwide

Internet & Web

AOL has gone crazy! I tried a 50 day free trial with aol. Now I've done business with them in the past and they were ok so I didn't hesitate to do the free trial to see how their new, "faster" service was working and see how it compared to cable internet.

Well, on the 45th day, I called to cancel. I was put on hold for 45 minutes after I said that the reason I was calling was to cancel. Then this lady told me that my free trial was only 45 days and not 50, so she said I owed a month's bill for the next month and would be billed if I cancelled.

But, 'if I would agree to extend my free trial for another three months, then she would waive the bill! After I aruged with her (I was holding the free trial material in my hand and it said 50 days) I asked to speak with a manager, who hung up on me. Then I called back, waited 50 minutes this time, and the same thing happened again! This guy would't let me cancel, kept pressuring me, it was crazy. So to get out of the bill, I extended my free trial for supposedly "three months." Then I hung up, called back, waited forever, and talked to another lady, who said my service had been extended for only one month, not three. (So imagine what would have happened if I had tried to cancel after, say, two and a half months!)

So I said to her that I had just joined a religion that wouldn't allow me to have internet, computers or tv in my house. She then cancelled my "free trial" on the spot with no bill. Yeah, aol's free trials are free - at the cost of your internet freedom.
