Ripoff fraudulent billing via Local Verizon Phonebill

I was charged $13.34 on my Verizon phone bill under the "All Other Charges" section. Apparently this charge arised after I attempted to block a pop-up ad on my computer which reslulted in an illagal charge on my phone bill. I contacted Verizon and they told me I had to contact the company to get it removed. I called the number listed on the bill, 800-944-0171, and found it busy.

After several attempts I was able to get through, but I found out that the office had already closed at 4:30 P.M. I didn't give up though. I I looked up the company on the Internet and came accross all the complaints posted on this website. I also tried to locate the company, but of course it doesn't seem to exist as a web page on the Internet. I then called Verizon back and told them about all the complaints I had read and that all these people had gotten no where. Verizon insisted that I had to call the company back before they would do anything. They would not comment how many times I had to try calling them before they would do anyhting.

I searched the name under various combiantions and finally came up with an affiliation they have with ACI Billing services which seemed to do their billing. That number coincedntaly seems to be almost the same as the one Verizon provides. It is 800-944-9646. What a joke! I called them on a lark hoping that I was calling the right number, and what do you know, I was right! I spoke to a very polite and helpful person who after asking me a few questions, removed the charges. All of you who have had trouble getting a credit, please call this number! It seems very convenient that Verizon does not give this other number out.

Apparently Verizon is partly responsible for this happening since their executives are supposed to do research on these companies before they agree to accept their billing. Perhaps they should have hired me, so that I could have found in five minutes that this is a shady company that takes advantage of pop-up ads that may result in you signing up for their service without your authorization. Fight back and tell your phone company as I am, that you want them to stop doing business with OAN. Also let ACI know that you want them to stop doing billing with this company.
