Compaq presario v6000
Motherboard causing overheating issue and shutdown of compute

I have aCompaq Presario laptop that I have had 4 years and suddenly it won't power up. I just learned there is some type of issue with the motherboard on these laptops causing overheating and it's not a cheap fix. I also heard this is a known problem with this laptop that Compaq has know about yet haas never sent me any recall letters. I can't afford a new motherboard at this time or a new computer for that matter. I am very frustrated and don't know where to turn for answers. I use this computer everyday for work and we are in tough ecomonic times. I cannot just go out and buy a new computer. What can I do? Who do I call? Please help?
