How did AOL become the company they are now? By ripping you off & taking your money!

I first started using AOL because my computer came with a free 6 month AOL service, which was cancelled by AOL after 2 months. I opened a new account with one of those CD's that offer so many free hours and start charging you after the hours expire, which was fine, until I started getting charged 2 or more times a month. Called to dispute, was told they have no record of such charges.

When I called to cancel my account, I was offered 2 free months so I took it, but ended up being charged for that too! Two months ago I called and cancelled my account once and for all, but I'm STILL being charged! I was charged twice in July for service that I no longer have, was also charged an upgrade fee for an account I no longer have! When I call to dispute this matter, they tell me the same thing, they have no record of any charges, take it up with my bank, fax in bank statements showing proof of these charges, that they would like to stop the charges, but they "don't know why I'm being charged!"

After the 3rd time I faxed in bank statements showing proof of the charges, they call me and told me they were not going to refund my money becasue it was the banks fault that I was still being charged, the bank said all the debits come directly from AOL. So I'm trying to figure out what am I gonna have to do to get some answers!?!??!

AOL owes me almost $200 in unauthorized charges, and everytime I call them, I get the same respond, they try to refuse letting me speak with a supervisor, (but I eventually get through most of the time) I get them haging up on me, basically, they go out of there way to NOT help me, and do not plan on doing any kind of investigation. I even had one guy call me a LIAR because he said the charges that I claim to be getting are impossible because my AOL account is closed!

I know several other people who have had similiar problems with AOL that have gone unresolved. I'm trying to get through to the corporate offices, and my husband and I are going through the JAG office on base to start getting legal help with this problem. If there is anyone else that is having similair problems with AOL please respond to this and maybe we can come together and do something about them! I've been fighting with AOL for 5 months now and this problem CANNOT go unresolved any longer!!!
