The Monitor Guy
Goes to computer fairs selling substandard junk. Major rip-off

Internet & Web

This company goes to computer fairs; I've seen them in California and Nevada. They deal in off-brand, used and refurbished monitors. Do not buy anything from them. I was in desperate need of a monitor as my old one had kicked the bucket long after the warranty expired.

I went to my local computer show and this company had a booth set up with loud music, many monitors like the one I eventually bought on display, friendly salespeople, and a good price. The 17" monitors on display had no jittering, good picture, bright color, good dot pitch, etc., and so I purchased one. Within two weeks, the monitor died.

I e-mailed the company and got no response. Then I called the telephone number on the receipt, and was told the number was no longer in service. I boxed up the monitor and took it to the next computer show, and luckily the company was there again. I found that I had to wait in line, as everyone who had bought one of these monitors at the previous show was there to return it.

The salespeople who had been there the previous month were no longer there, and I really felt bad for the kid who was manning the booth. He was catching all kinds of flak from the angry customers. Obviously, he had been hired to do the show and had no idea what he had gotten into. He offered to exchange my monitor for one that they had; strangely enough, they had none of the ones that had been in such abundance at the previous show.

I wanted my money back, as did all of the other customers there. He had not been sent with enough cash to make any refunds, and I had to wait for him to make sales before he could refund my money. He had a hard time doing that with people (not me) standing around telling potential customers not to buy anything from them.By the end of the day, he still had sold nothing and could not refund my money.

I went back the next morning; he must have called his boss and been wired some money, because he was able to give me my refund. He apologized for all the trouble. Although this story had a happy ending, I would not make another purchase from this company. They sell substandard junk not even worth their discounted prices. If you can't go directly to their shop, you are out of luck unless they decide to show up at the next computer show in your area.in my opinion, they are very bad businesspeople.
