Amazon
Amazon Prime rip-off

Internet & Web

I was placing an order on Amazon.com and the option came up to join Amazon Prime for $79 for the year. I still had an additional $88 on my gift card balance so I thought what the heck, why not. Everything was processed together and the order was placed.

Two minutes later I realize they did not take the Prime membership out of the gift card and charged my debit card. I immediately contacted them and was told I couldn't pay for the membership with a gift card. This was never mentioned while "signing up". So I asked them to cancel it and refund my $79 since I would never have gotten it in the first place if I knew it wouldn't be charged to the gift card.

I was told I was not eligible for a refund because I used the Prime service during the transaction. They won't even give a pro-rated refund. Total rip-off. Now I'm out $79 for something I would never have paid for if I didn't have the gift card.
