Product not delivered, order was lost, refusal to refund money, Lancashire

Internet & Web

I paid $85 for a bunch of flowers to be delivered to my friend in the UK on the 1st of December. The flowers had still not been delivered by the 3rd, so I contacted customer support. I received a reply the following day explaining that they had accidentally lost my order and would arrange for the flowers to be delivered as soon as possible.

I waited another three days but the flowers had still not been delivered and I was starting to get sick of constantly asking my friend if she had received them yet (something I had intended to be a surprise). I contacted customer support once again on December 7 and politely asked them for a refund. They stated that they would not provide a refund because the florist had already attempted to make the delivery.

They claimed that no one was home at the time of the delivery, so the florist left a calling card and my friend would have to contact them directly to re-order the flowers herself. Apart from finding the idea of my friend ordering her own flowers to be distasteful, I also found it quite suspicious as there was no reason the flowers could not have been safely left on her front doorstep. Moreover, my friend explained that not only was there no calling card but at least one of her five flat mates had been home the entire time and no such delivery had ever been made.

I brought this to the attention of customer support and they offered to arrange for the flowers to be re-delivered at a specific time and date that would suit my friend. Failing that, I was told that I would be given full refund. I felt that this was a reasonable solution so arranged for the delivery to be made on the 14th of December before 8pm as my friend said that she would be working from home all day.

It was later confirmed that she was indeed home all day on the 14th but yet again, the flowers were never delivered. I emailed customer support the next day explaining that the delivery was not made and pursuant to our agreement I expected a full refund.in their reply they reverted to their previous story about how the flowers were delivered, no one was home at the time, they left a calling card, call the florist yourself. I told them that this was untrue, clearly unacceptable and insisted on the refund as promised.

Today, I received an email from customer support offering me a 'complimentary boquet (their spelling, not mine) to be delivered to any UK address with any message card'... Because nothing makes up for $85 worth of imaginary flowers like a complimentary bouquet of imaginary flowers.

I have now given up on the idea of ever getting my money back from these people but feel that I have a duty to warn others to avoid iflorist.co.uk like the plague. I have used similar services a few times in the past and they have always proven to be incredibly reliable, however this is was my first attempt at sending flowers to a UK address. Hopefully I'll have better luck next time.
