Where to start? They haven't gotten an order right in over a year...

First, there was the preordered book that caused them to try to "delay" shipping the rest of my order by several months (something they had never done in the past when an order included a preorder of a book not yet available...) which meant I had to cancel the order and reorder it just to get some reading material for the interim...

Then there was the order I placed where, knowing from that previous order that it would likely be delayed a couple weeks for the preorder to be released, they then didn't SHIP the preordered item when they shipped the rest of the order... And they never made that situation right despite numerous calls to cs. I finally got the book, but not so much as an apology or a "here's a 10% off one book coupon for your trouble."

Now is the crowning moment where Barnes and Noble makes it clear they don't give a moldy piece of bantha poodoo about their customers.

They sent me 3 coupons for 20% off one item as a holiday mailing. Nowhere on these coupons is there any fine print that could hide the detail that you can only use ONE per online order.indeed, when I used the in-store coupons, they had no problem using 3 on one purchase (3 different items of course). The web page doesn't mention any such restriction, either. Yet it will not allow me to enter more than one coupon code.

So they send me coupons to get me to come buy from them, then force me to place three separate orders to make use of them, necessitating that I either A: spend more money on shipping because my order total is now below the threshold for free shipping, or B: spend more money on books so that all 3 orders get free shipping.

Calling customer service for help with a website error (to give them the benefit of the doubt) resulted in an explanation that they cannot do more than one coupon per order, and a "SORRY, Mr X" and being hung up on when I asked for a supervisor, then a second call where they refused to do anything about it, a 30 minute wait for a supervisor, and again the obstructionist attitude that they don't have a problem, they don't have to fix my problem, and they can't do anything for me to make this right.

So they draw me in with coupons, then force me to spend more money than I would have originally without them just to take advantage of them.

CLASSIC bait and switch.
