Bad Business Practices with Automatic Renewal of 12 month Contracts

Internet & Web

I signed up online and received an email saying my website started on 7.28.2010. Knew I had a year contract for $29.99.in June, the company contacted me asking if I wanted to renew one of the options I had signed up. Responded with no, please don't, knowing that I was going to cancel at the end of my year subscription. So come September 4th, I send an email saying I no longer want the website and to end the contract. They inform me that they automatically renew for a YEAR and if I didn't let them know before my renewal date, I was out of luck. I received no notice that it was time to renew, or the option. I feel it is deceptive in that most people know they have a contract and cancel after that period is up. No one told me about this automatic renewal process in the beginning and feel that the company practices bad business. When I explained what happened, the employees were basically, too bad. No CEO to talk to, no one wanted to work out an agreement or compromise. Stay far away from this internet hosting site.
