Unauthorized purchases on bank account after buying for grandchild

I was buying stuff for my grandchild on Amazon and a couple days later I went to my personal banker he said I had purchased a bunch of thing I did not.

So I saw all these purchases from like a night club something in California I live in Colorado!
A bunch of my friends say that Amazon is a site where all these people can get in and see your credit card number, they will be able to use it where ever when ever!

I had to close down my account and get a new one that does not have a lot of my purchases in it so it sucks!
I totally hate Amazon.com I am never purchasing from that site again!
