Kidpub
Promised my daughter a published book when she was eleven - that was over a year ago!

Internet & Web

We wanted to publish some stories my daughter wrote when she was ten. Kidpub advertised many kids books that they had published. All we had to do was send them $90 and the manuscript. They would then edit it, add cover art, and send it to us for a final OK. Then we would receive five copies of the book, and it would be available for purchase on Amazon.

It started out well. We edited, they edited, back and forth. Then we did not hear from them for a long time. The editor did not respond to repeated emails. There was no phone number for customer service. Our daughter turned twelve, and still the project was in limbo. Finally the editor got in touch with us and gave us a choice of cover graphics. We thought we were close to publishing, then they just went AWOL again, with no response to emails.

It was incredibly frustrating for us and our daughter, and the extended family who had been so excited at the thought of seeing her in print.

I finally sent an email to the main editor expressing my frustration. We had paid to have this book published OVER A YEAR AGO! I told him I would post on usacomplaints. Coms if i did not get an answer. I received an email THAT DAY in which he promised a refund, and to publish our book for no charge. Sounds good, right? Well, that was TWO MONTHS AGO and I have no check and no further email from him.
