I signed with them almost a year ago after working hard on my book. I was so excited about being published. What I got was alot of heart ache and grief. For one, they priced my soft cover book 30 dollars and no bookstore was able to carry it because of the price points. Then they started emailing me with offers to take my book to Germany, Florida, to other well known authors, to send it to movie studios, etc. If only I would buy X amount of copies of the book. Even with discounts I can't afford to buy copies of my own book.

I checked at some of the events like the Frankfurt Book Fair in Germany and Publish America wasn't on any of their vendor lists. Same with an AARP event in Florida. I have asked to be let loose from my contract with them but I've not heard anything. When I have disputed about my book price-they've sent me emails about how they've been put out. They're not out a dime because my book has only sold 8 copies and the ppl that bought those copies, it took 8-12 weeks for them to get their copy. When I got my author's copy, it looked as if a 3rd grader had written it.

Basically all they do is do a copy and paste and a general spell check. My manuscript was well edited and some of the sarcasm and artistic speech was chopped up because if you did a spell check, it would have deleted them. Publish America makes money off authors not the general public. I didn't mind doing the work to sell my book, I had 15 bookstores across my state that was willing to let me have book signings but because of the price of the book-they couldn't do it unless I consigned copies. I wrote a paranormal romance and there are none not even in hardcover that cost as much as mine do.
