In early April of I responded to a writing job ad placed on craigslist. A few days later I received a phone call from the organization and was asked to submit some writing samples. After submitting them, I was immediately offered the opportunity to write various college term papers, literature reviews, and other assignments and be compensated for the work as well.
I was told that I would not receive payment for 3 weeks. Since I had never sought an opportunity like this before, it seemed acceptable at the time. For the next 3-4 weeks I was given numerous projects on a daily/weekly basis, I completed them, submitted them, and followed the instructions to the best of my ability. I worked night and day, struggling to meet the given "deadlines". If I felt I could not meet the deadline, I requested more time. I asked if any changes needed to be made and offered to make them immediately. Within 3 weeks, I anticipated my first check, when it did not arrive, I contacted Mr. "waymen lam" and he said payment had been sent. After waiting for a few more days, I contacted his colleague, Mr. Flores, and informed him that I had still not been paid. I was not rude, demanding, or threatening. Mr. Flores stated apologized and state a cashier's check would be sent out tomorrow. But payment still has not arrived.
I am ashamed to say that I wasted over a whole month of my life for this organization, and was promised compensation. The approximate amount I have earned is slightly over $2000.00.
I am just a student who was hoping to earn a few dollars utilizing my writing and research skills. I was not looking for a get rich quick scheme, or easy way out, I worked so very hard and received nothing for the time and energy I put into everthing I did.
This is the part that angers me most of all; when I expressed my hesitance to even continue doing the projects after payment had been delayed, I was given the reassurance I needed at the time to even continue.
I wrote to this site because I want this to be exposed, and if I am lucky, maybe I can obtain some type of justice.in any case, I do not want this to happen to anyone else. It's a horrible feeling to put yourself out there like that, to work hard, and to receive nothing for it.
