Bizzfinders signs you up for web hosting, billed to your local phone bill. This is what they did to us:

1. Bizzfinders called and talked to receptionist Debra, who said No.

2. Bizzfinders sent long letter to Debra (who is not the business owner) saying (excerpts) "Congratulations Debra! You are now listed on the Internet... After our telephone conversation on Oct 07 our web specialists... After your initial 14 days, on October 28 your new web site will be conveniently billed to your local telephone bill, billed on behalf of bizzfinders.com for only $39.95 per month." It would be an easy letter to mistake as a marketing/sales piece and throw out.

3. We called to cancel, even though we never signed up. They asked for our telephone number four times. Finally the guy says, "Ah, do you know Debra x?" We said, "Yes, she is a receptionist, not the owner and she didn't agree to anything. We do not want your service." The guy says, "Yes, I can see Debra said no when we called". We said, "Why then did we get a letter that says you signed us up"? He says, "Oh, sorry, we sent that letter out before we talked to her, would you like to cancel?"

My guess is that they sign you up automatically (notice it says, "after our telephone conversation", not "per our telephone conversation"), then later, perhaps years, argue that Debra said yes when at that time you'll have no memory of the call.

You can Google them and find instances where people have been billed for months without ever knowing it, and then not being able to get money back.
