Rebate Scandal, cheating customer, on purposely misleading to frustrate your efforts

My daugter bought a Dell Dimesion 4500 system through UCLA Bookstore online at 8/29/02 and qulified for a $130 rebate. We filed all the paper work immediately after we received the system.

Dell wrote back to us at 10/5/02 mentioned the Customer Account No. And Order No. Are not valid (both number are Dell's internal tracking number showed on Packing Slip attached to the shipping box). I called one of the 800 number (877-776-6910) to find out what's wrong with the number. The standard anwser I got is always they will handle and rebate is on the way. Every four to six weeks I have to call them over and over again.

I tried send in e-mail through Dell's website to complain. Dell replied on 3/19/03, gave me another number to help my rebate enquiry, 888-314-9903. I called that number three times, finally one guy called Randy Regan asked me to fax him every document at 480-606-4313. I faxed all copies on 5/15/03 and heard nothing back and receive nothing.

I called last week and this week, all I got is tranfered from one agent to another, finally someone told me "the rebate period is expired, we can do nothing to help you". I realized the whole scandal is well drilled and designed by Dell and their rebate handling agency to frustrate customer and cut down the rebate amount that Dell owed to their customers.

I have processed other rebates through BestBuy and never have any trouble to receive my rebate. Dell suppoed to be a name brand to conduct legal business, but I changed my mind now. Dell is worth only $130, I will not buy another Dell product nor Dell stock. I will spend my effort to tell everyone not touch any productand rebate Dell offered.
