I received an email from cashcrate.com about an offer that would actually pay you to fill out forms and surveys throughout the internet. Their approach is very up-front, so I thought I'd give it a try. A couple of forms I was filling out, buried deep on the bottom of one of the last pages with the "yes" box already cued in was to have your home phone number billed $14.95 monthly for email discounts, coupons of some sort emailed to you directly. I caught it too late, so I called to cancel. Sara, at email discounts said that she couldn't find my account, so if there is no account, there couldn't be any billing taking place. She assured me that nothing would be taking place. I even sent them an email telling them I wanted to cancel immediately after making the telephone call. The next day, (today) I get a phone call from emaildiscounts telling me that I have an active account, and to call 800-410-5781 if I have any questions. I absolutely did call them, and spoke with Jane, who told me the same thing, that I do not have an account, and since I wasn't the owner of the line, that they would have to speak with my wife. The phone number is in her name only. That's when I lost it. I told Jane exactly where the bear took a dump in the woods. After lots of screaming and swearing, she assured me that I wouldn't be billed for anything, because, after all, I didn't have an account... According to her. She did give me a cancellation number, EDS49846774. Then I get this email from them, this afternoon...
