Ridgway Shopper, JM Ridgway, Michael Carlson, Alan Peters
Mystery Shopper online ad, sent me check for $3800 to shop and get paid

Internet & Web

I responded to an email from Michael Carlson, claiming to represent JM Ridgway, recruiting me to be a mystery shopper. I gave them my address to start. The follow-up email asked for the closest WalMart and Western Union. I responded with the information. Within 2 days I received an email from Alan Peters and was FEDExed a cashier's check for $3800.

When I realized that the emails were coming from a hotmail account and not a corporate account I researched on the internet, and I knew I was being scammed. I did not cash it nor did I proceed. I emailed Alan Peters back asking questions about his email address, but did not get a response.
