Bidz.com
Ripoff bad faith auctions

Internet & Web

Similar experience to another user.

Over the weekend of 5/3-5/4/03 Bidz was having problems with their website.instead of shutting the site down and cancelling all the auctions till they fixed the problems they essentially used their customers as beta testers. They cancelled any wins they felt they were losing money on and allowed some of the cheaper items to be processed. They did all this without any notice either during or after the auctions closed. They were working on the problem the whole time and allowed the fraud to continue. I found out about this after emailing them about certain items that I couldn't cash out, while others came through at about the same time. They said that the auctions did not have a legal winner (by whose definition.) They only allowed me to pay for 4 of my 16 wins over this period.

I feel there is a good case for a class action lawsuit here, they continued their auctions while they knew there was a problem and basically violated the terms of their own user agreement (auctions may only terminated early or restarted, no mention of cancelling auctions that have been won). If anyone knows a good lawyer there is probably money here.

In any case, if you were caught in this scam then you may want to file a BBB complaint at www.bbb.org since they currently have a perfect record and obviously don't deserve it at this point.

I might also add that previous to this my dealings with the company were satisfactory. When they first started up they bragged and advertised about selling a Rolex for only a $1. Obviously they have changed their tune.
