Charged my credit card $17.99 for transaction which I did not authorize Internet

I was notified by my credit card company of an unusual transaction that did not fit my "spending pattern". Upon investigation, we agreed that this was, indeed, an unauthorized transaction by someone or some entity that illegally obtained and used my credit card number.
Subsequently, the credit card company cancelled my old card and issued a new one immediately, and has initiated its own investigation.
