Unwanted/unknown charges to my credit card

A week ago, I had a charge show up on my credit card for 87.69 Canadian funds. After talking to my credit card company, we all believed it was a hold put on by PayPal and began figuring out why. After further investigation, it turns out it was not paypal, but this company that calls themselves PWE Auction or Pacific Web Works. After contacting the fraud department of my credit card, I was able to find out who these people are. If you have ever seen a link in your email, or online anywhere that shows you a picture of a government cheque stating how to make money at home, and you clicked on it... This is where the charge comes from. You have to read the VERY fine print about charges being put onto your card after 7 days. This is what happened to me. It is very largely due to my own stupidity for signing up (tough times make us do stupid things!!!) but I was unaware of the charges that would be put onto my card. I contacted PWE and told them I wanted to cancel and wanted nothing to do with them whatsoever. Since it was within my 7 day time trial, they will re-reimburse me the full amount.

This company may be legitimate, but this is definitely something that has happened alot because the credit card company is very familiar with these people. So, my advice to anyone with mysterious charges from these people, call and cancel!!! That is the only way to stop new charges from being processed onto your card. You can also ask the credit card fraud department to put a note on your file so that if anything else does sneak through, they can reimburse you because you have that note on your file. We all work hard for our money, we don't need to be scammed out of it by anyone!!!
