BlueHippo
Senior Citizens beware elderly financial abuse

Internet & Web

My mother called for information about the offer and was told she had to set up an account to verify she was eligible. They sold her a computer and after 2 days she called the company back to tell them she was not interested and not to take any money out of her account. I listened to the last bit of the recorded message of her aggreeing to the offer, however it was hard for me to understand the strong Indian accent of the rep she was talking to and she kept saying she wanted information only. The rep she spoke to after waiting over an hour said no problem she would get a refund because she called before anything was shipped. On Oct 9th the company took 124$ out of her account and was going to take an additional 35.99$ per week but the bank stoped payment on it. It still says she owes over 2000$ and is going to be reported to the credit agency. She has not received a refund and I have called everyone I can think of to help. BBB, consumer affairs, attorney general, filed a local police report of theft etc. I aggree with the comment that people should know better... And I would but my elderly mom was conned from a very high pressure sales rep that confused her and misled her. I have instructed my mother to call me before she gives anyone her account number again, but I worry that many other seniors are being scamed. If anyone can help, please post any information that would could direct me in helping my mother and someone else's mother not to be scamed. I called today 3 times posing as someone to buy a computer and heard a 3 different offers. It is crazy listening to them brag on that they have the BEST customer service in the business and they have over 700,000 customers annually. If you take that amount and times it 2000 on average that comes to almost 150,000, 000$ per year that they are making! So 5million the FTC charged them is a drop in the bucket for them. If you have any time to kill just call the 800 number and keep them on the phone asking them questions... Just stupid questions. Just for fun and to annoy them. The number to order a computer is 800-474-4260. Please let anyone know of this company and DO not order anything from them.
