Accepted $49.95 on debit card, downloaded nothing

On Oct 29 late evening my computer came under attack by malware to the extent it was inoperable. The cure for the problem was offered with the customary info form for credit or debit, which was submitted, and shortly the problem cleared. I thought it was for AVG.

I was told when I bought the computer that trial version of AVG was installed and that it could be updated within three months. At the time my perception was that it was AVG that was presenting the payment form, although I thought it strange to be occurring so soon. When the statement came it was more confusing when the name, Pandora, had not appeared before.

As you can tell I am unfamiliar with all these spyware activities but I thought Pandora was a collection service for AVG or something. I now see light.

After submitting the debit, my computer cleared up nicely and I thought all was well. But about 12/17 a message began to appear from AVG that the license would expire in 60 days. Shortly afterwards Winweb came to visit with dire reports of horrible virus infections. My computer ran the AVG and got a clean report.

I have not been able to contact Pandora, or AVG but my analisys is that AVG is legitimate and running on the free version having received no payment. Having since read content concerning Pandora it looks like a masterfull deception on the part of Pandora and they may even be targeting newly installed users. On the interaction of Winweb I have no opinion if its linked to Pandora or not. But if Pandora is innocent of decption they should be interested that their name and phone number appear on my bank statement and they have no software intalled on my IP.
