Network Solutions
Company engages in unethical practicies and should be banned from registering names Herndon

Internet & Web

This company holds domain owners hostage by becoming indignant (including and especially the supervisors and managers) when a customer attempts to transfer a domain name. One supervisor changed my registrant info (on all 50 names I had with NS) so that I would be unable to transfer any of the names for up to 60 days (an ICANN rule when info is changed on an account).

As soon as a domain expires, but is still well within the grace period for redemption, NS changes the registered email address to: pendingrenewalordeletion.com. This prevent YOU from obtaining any transfer information, thus effectively 'LOCKING' the name with them for at least the next 60 days. If the name is (or appears to be) a popular one, it may be mysteriously acquired (even though it has still not been released and the WHOIS still shows NS as the pending deletion registrar) by some unknown registration company. I have received emails after this offering me the opportunity to buy it back a 'premium' name (for a hefty profit, of course).

Beware this company for domain registration. There are many other ethical (and cheaper) companies to register with.
