This is a complete SCAM, DO NOT deposit any checks into your bank!

I recicved a check in the mail yesterday for $2,950.00 with instructions to contact a MISS LUCY BLACK before depositing the check. This check looks, and by all standerds appears to be a valid check. I contacted her at the number provided and she was very unprofessional. She just asked me to deposit the check but not to tell the bank what was going on because I was to evaluate them as part of an on-going customer service effort. I found this to be very strange so I looked up the number for Independent Bank (they were the bank who issued the check) and gave them a call. I spoke to a very nice woman who immediately told me it was a scam they were very well aware of and to get rid of the check as it would bounce and I would be out of the 2350.00 I was supposed to wire back to them. I am so thankful I called before I did something.

I am going to take this to the authorities and I am going to use all of my knowledge and all of the contacts I have to bring these people to justice.

In this time, with the way the economy is suffering I know it is very tempting to fall prey to scams like these. We are out of jobs and we are looking for any kind of help for ourselvs and our families. This is the time when scam artists like these go hunting for people like us, like you, looking for some light in a very dark time. Please do your research before falling victim. I really hope this helps as many people as it can reach.
