Rip-off Internet Modem (censored)

I recently recieved a bill for $611 for about 30 calls to the (201) number. Most calls were for 1 minute. Redialed over and over. 3 calls were for more than 20 minutes. I NEVER dialed these numbers.

I called for an explanation. The customer "noservice" rep explained how I had agreed to accept their minidialer download and authorized dialing a long distance number to view live internet porn, and have it billed back to my telephone number. I daresay I have never authorized ANY kind of download on my computer. It is a rule at my house. It doesnt matter if I've ever visited a "porn" site, I would never go ANYWHERE on the internet that charges me. A budget rule! I went to my local consumer reporter website to find out what to do.

I was told to NOT pay the long distance charges and put them in dispute with my LD Carrier. I was advised to Call Alyon as well as send a certified letter, return-reciept, to them stating I dispute the charges. I did that, as well as advised them that if these charges show up on my credit report, I will drag them into a civil suit. I also filed a complaint with the FCC. I also heard that it would be a good idea to file a complaint with the FTC. I will do that next.

I was called by AT&T to give them authorization for these calls (not my LD carrier). They wanted my name and address to send me a bill. HA! Ha! I told them no and advised that they should know better than to support a (censored) like this. They accepted my defferal of the billing.

This has been the biggest consumer related nightmare I've ever been involved in. Hopefully we can all stand up together and get this resolved.
