Ccbill.com
Random charge on bank statement

Internet & Web

I found an unexplained charge on my bank statement for $100.00. It listed ccbill.com and their number. I called their number and spoke to a rather rude young man who asked for my debit card number and address. When I asked him why I would give that information to a company that had erroneously charged my account, he replied, snidely, "We didn't charge your account. It's like being if someone stole your debit card and used it at the gas station. You wouldn't blame the gas station." True. I can't argue with that, however rudely expressed. The fact that I had never heard of the ccbill.com explains my wariness, but there was nothing else to do.

So I give him the information. He says a charge came to them from zanga.com, or something of that nature - an online poker site. Apparently, ccbill.com had immediately reversed the charge the next day. I still haven't received the credit.

I called my bank. They froze my account and issued a new debit card. I hadn't lost or misplaced my card, so someone must have grabbed the number from a website. I do some shopping online.

I'll update this when the credit appears.
