GadTech Systems - John Stratman
Supposedly hired me to do his bookkeeping and asked me to set up a bank account with Wells Fargo

I was searching on Yahoo Jobs and found a listing for Gadtech Computers looking for someone to "prepare deposits for funds received in the Controllers Office and Make bank deposits and payouts daily".

I forwarded my resume to Karen Curtis at skymail28@gmail.com. She sent me an email saying that my resume was Under Review and had a list of questions that was required to be answered before I could be approved by management.

They were very general questions. I answered all of them and forwarded her the email. She responded with "I have forwarded your Details to the CEO of Gadtech Computers Inc (Mr John Stratman). He would Like to conduct an online interview with you to discuss more about the Job position that you are yet to occupy.

Set Up a Screenname with Yahoo Instant Messenger and add up the company screen name: netcom90 to you buddy for you to have the interview with him.

If you got any problems please feel free to email back." The language was not very professional. It was signed HR Dept, Gadtech Computers Inc.

I set all of this up and someone Instant Messaged me at a predetermined time. He said he was John Stratman and there was a picture of a business man in a suit displayed. We talked briefly, he asked my whole name and said that he would get back to me in 10 minutes. He came back on and said that the company had hired me.

We talked about payroll and he said that I would have to set up a personal account with Wells Fargo because that was the only bank that they could directly deposit my pay checks to. He said I needed to do it that day so the information could be added in payroll. That seemed unlikely, but I set up the account without putting any money in it to see what the next step would be.

He then had me send an email to: officesupplies@mail2laurie.com requesting pricing and availibility of a lap top and printer/copier to be sent to me.

He told me to be online at 9am the next day and we would go over more detail of my job. He had me set up a free 30 day trial account with Quickbooks Online. After this was done he sent me a list of entries to enter from the month of July. There was not enough information on most entries to correctly enter the information. I kept telling him that this could not be done without the proper information. He responded with answers that made no sense and said to stop for the day and be back at 9am today.

Today, 9/3/08, I received the below email from Laurie:

The items are very much available and are ready for delivery;. Note you ll contact my Sales Manager with the payment of $1,800 with the below details. Cost of Customized Item = $1750, shipping charges = $50. Here is the agent details needed to effect the transfer through western union Below. Once the payment has been received, a tracking number will be sent to you via email for the Items with an overnight delivery Via Fed Ex / Ups.
